Thor Bailey's vision is based on 44 years hands on in the field empirical experience. Basically, there are two paths toward carbon sequestration. 1) small scale, producing biochar for Ecology Sustainability. 2) large scale volume production for Carbon Credits monetizing. Both scales are valid, yet major disparity between the economical hurdles associated with both.

UC Merced and GCN / ABT hosted a forum focused on the evolving BIOCHAR industry May 2017. It was considered the first open-source collaboration between the academic, public & private sectors. The forum was held the UC Merced satellite Castle Campus with about 35 attending. Considering the diverse science based and private sector business participants, it was a constructive interactive forum and enhanced understanding biochar benefits.
