TB CONSULTING
44 YEARS BIOMASS EVELOUTION INTO NEW GENERATION
Coordinating Grassroots Field Operations And WFD
TB CONSULTING (TBC) formerly Applied Biomass Technicians (ABT)

The objectives are the same and Thor Bailey presently is operating as an independent consultant. The field of experience is sustainability and good stewardship of the environment from individual family farmers to corporate farming organizations has been building for a long time and will continue for the foreseeable future. No agricultural activity impacts air and water quality as much as disposal of waste residues. TBC is continuing to support innovative methods for utilizing biomass residues. This includes recycling of biomass, converting waste to energy, and converting waste products to valuable soil amendments.

ADVOCATE SUPPORT:
-
Small Scale Biomass Handing Equipment:
-
Specializing in Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) biomass reduction services.

-
Compost will be produced from agricultural waste products including but not limited to walnut & almond shells, chipped orchard pruning, and clean urban biomass sources.

-
Biochar compost blends. Blends will be developed using varying amounts of char with different concentrations of compost tea, wood vinegar, and both organic and non-organic fertilizers. Blends could also contain perlite, diatomaceous earth, worm castings, and humus.
INDEPENDENT ADVISER:
-
Air emissions, especially "methane" monitoring and reduction through biochar production and incorporation into soil enhancement programs through RegenX.

-
Small scale CSA farmers, agricultural processors, private firms involved with orchard removal and agricultural waste disposal.
-
The UCANR Cooperative Extension and Community based nonprofit groups are aligned with ABC objectives for the management of biomass residue.

CHICO ENTERPRISE RECORD, LETTERS TO THE EDITOR July 5 2022
Having grown up on a large farm, then spending over 40 years in the agriculture industry, I’ve had opportunity to witness the evolution of the regulatory leviathan created by both federal and state agencies. Most of what transpired in this arena, in the interest of creating a cleaner/safer environment for everyone involved, was well-intentioned but often illogical and expensive.
Over these many years, billions of taxpayer dollars have been expended, often through the grant process, to facilitate various projects approved to achieve such worthy goals. California, with its huge agricultural footprint, along with millions of acres of at-risk forests, is ground-zero for this process. Now, with ever-increasing regulatory pressures and devastating damage from countless wildfires, solutions are more critical (but seemingly more elusive) than ever.
With farmers facing spiraling costs, looming food and water shortages and millions of trees rotting in place, we need to consider how to most effectively address these pressing issues. Historically, most of the grant monies have been earmarked for established companies with a stable track-record and existing major financial resources. Since 2015, USDA and CDFA grant cycles have missed intended objectives for biomass reduction/conversion. Recently, much of the grant funding has gone toward research, as opposed to incentives for actual processing of waste streams.
Innovative programs at the local level hold much promise for mitigating this waste. It is long overdue to give these options their due. TB CONSULTING in Chico has the experience and network to make a difference.
